Bid2Share.com: A website Of Treasures & Possibilities For

Irish Charities & You!

New Website Connecting Charities With Their Supporters In A Unique & Innovative Way

Monday 23rd April 2012     For Immediate Release

Bid2Share.com is the new and easy way to donate to your favourite Irish charities without putting your hand into your pocket!  In just a few clicks you could be donating your belongings or time for an online Auction.  Bid2Share.com is the new world answer to real world problems. By combining the strength of online auctions with the reach of social media, Sellers can get their families, friends and rivals behind their Bid2Share in a fun and secure way. Sellers can donate to one or all of the seven participating charities which include Focus Ireland, Marie Keating Foundation, Concern Worldwide, Jack and Jill Foundation, St Francis Hospice, The Bubble Gum Club and The Susie Long Hospice Fund. Rather than detracting from existing fundraising channels, Bid2Share.com offers charities an entirely new source of funding.

The idea is simple and fun to use: You set up an Auction and then sell anything from your old debs’ dress, to that ‘lovely’ Christmas jumper you got from Aunt Moe last year, from your embarrassing DVD collection to those old iPods or the WII Fit you never actually used! You don’t even need stuff to create an auction! Why not donate your time? You could auction a swimming class if you’re a swimming instructor, a cake baking lesson if you can bake or a week in your cottage in the country: the possibilities are endless once your mind is set! Bid2Share.com even provides you with things which can be added to your Auction for free and then sold to benefit your Charity!

Everyone can make a massive difference for those who need it most, be it those fighting cancer and life threatening illnesses, those who help people living on the streets, or who are alleviating hunger, those who help children who have severe neurological problems or who help to make a sick child’s dream come true.

Bid2Share.com has been developed over the last 2 years by Francis Nesbitt.  Francis is the owner of Croan.ie, a web development and online marketing consultancy based in Kilkenny.  Bid2Share.com was developed by the team at Croan.ie. in conjunction with some of Ireland’s leading charities. The site is based on a robust and extensible architecture and incorporates all relevant security protocols and best practice.

When putting something up for auction on Bid2Share.com you can opt to keep a proportion of the proceeds of your auctions for yourself OR you can donate all proceeds to the charity of your choice.

Bid2Share.com is also a great place to find treasures unimaginable: from a yacht to CDs; from a musket to iPhones, some still in the box and never used. Check out the site to see what treasures you can find.  If you bid on an Auction on Bid2Share.com you know that you are helping a worthwhile charity.  It is also a really great way to show off what great deals you got for such great causes!  If you don’t fancy any of the wonderful treasures on offer, Bid2Share.com gives you the option to donate without bidding, so you can still support a charity in need!  Whether bidding or donating, you can leave your computer with a feeling of self satisfaction, knowing you did your bit to help.

“I’m ecstatic to see this two year project coming into effect and I have been taken aback with all the positive feedback surrounding the site and the charities.  I hope that the people of Ireland can show it doesn’t take money to give back to our world, just a little time and imagination,” said Francis Nesbitt

“Cash donations to Irish charities are declining at a time when they are needed most. Charities must recruit and engage with a new kind of donor, one who is younger, tech savvy and socially conscious. They have to do this in innovative, cost-effective ways.  Philanthropy is becoming a social relationship rather than an economic transaction.  With Bid2Share.com hopefully we are making it easier for people to be charitable,” Nesbitt continued.

Focus Ireland CEO Joyce Loughnan said of the new website: “We are delighted to be one of the charities involved with Bid2Share.com. It’s such a great idea.  Times are hard and money is tight for a lot of people but this site provides a way of auctioning items they no longer need to raise vital funds for charities including Focus Ireland.  The money raised will help to directly fund our work to combat and prevent homelessness.”

Ms. Loughnan added: “The site is also a bit of fun as well as people may have anything from an old Elvis costume only worn once at Halloween a few years ago to a Christmas present that was never used or maybe some DVDs or CDs.  These type of things can be sold on the site to help support our work to prevent families and single from becoming homeless and to help others to move on from being homeless.”

Lillian McGovern, CEO of the Marie Keating Foundation said "We are always looking for new and innovative ways of raising much needed funds and Bid2Share.com is an exciting new way for people to support very worthwhile causes while possibly picking up a great bargain."

Jonathan Irwin CEO of Jack & Jill said ‘We are delighted to be one of the associated charities with the Bid2Share.com website and urge everyone to clearout their unwanted goods and turn them into much needed funds for the charities involved. It is a great way of helping us to look after the 288 babies nationwide under our wing’
